The week you might have missed if you have YouTube TV. Or, My Plan to fix the ESPN/Youtube problem.

Let’s say you got YouTube TV (for the amount you were paying cable already), wasting $75/ a month just to get the NFL Sunday Ticket Package. Which was another $400 a year more or less.

But as a true sports fan, you also watch college football. And when you rolled out of bed 2 weeks ago realized you no longer get ESPN, as well as all the other ESPNs, ACC, SEC Networks, and ABC. You were pissed. But Sunday happened, and you chilled out as you got your NFL fix.

Monday night, you turned the TV on only to realize, “I pay $400 + $75x12 ($900) for a total of $1,300.00 a year to get every NFL game, and I don’t get every NFL game”.

To understand how to fix your situation, you must understand why its happening.

In my opinion, it's because Google has been too profitable for the past 20 years. That reality is very difficult to see with every Youtuber and suck-up with camera brownnosing Youtube. I am not siding with Disney, I’m siding against Google-Tube as the obscene valuations these companies have amassed allows them to behave monopolistically.

That really is the problem. They are trying to sell people on this being Disney’s greed, but it’s not. Disney is screwed if they lose more than 10 million in carriage fees (at least $15/month per subscriber) from YouTube TV channels going dark.

Another way to look at it is Disney isn’t getting $150,000,000.00 a month, each month this goes on. Disney is not so rich that they can just ignore the loss of what amounts to the budget of 2 normal Marvel Movies a month and not feel it. Captain America was around $75mil to make.

Does Disney care about you? No, not really, but they need this to be resolved to survive. Well, not to survive, they made $24B in the 3rd quarter this year. But if they removed $1.8B over the next 12 months, it would be a massive problem, as that is 2% of their annual revenue.

Google, on the other hand, made $102B in the 3rd Quarter of 2025 alone. Yes, Google makes 4x what Disney does each year. However, as 61% of that is from Search (which is going away), they are doing all sorts of crazy stuff to prevent the company’s bottom line from dropping by 50% over the next 24 months. And squeezing Disney is one of their brilliant strategy moves.

More importantly, by extension, they are f%$king you, the football fan whose wife likes Kelly Ripa in the mornings. And you are helpless.

Or are you?

The YouTube TV standard terms allow for autonomy for situations like this, and the NFL package is a loss leader already. They are also taking $20 off your bill if you complain about the disruption. But unless 85% of the 10 million subscribers use the $20 coupon, they come out ahead while they strong-arm Disney.

However, if they lost 10% of their sub base, it would make YouTube TV a losing enterprise, and they probably would abandon it pretty fast. Google has a history of cutting things off cuz they don’t make enough money.

“But dude, I prepaid for the Sunday Ticket, I’m not canceling and eating that”.

This is week 10 of the 18-week schedule (17 games and a bye week). Which means a pro-rated rebate, should you demand it, as you signed up expecting ESPN would be available as advertised, is reasonable. How can Youtube defend a position where they didnt think people who were signing up becasue of football wanted ESPN? It’s a class action that would cost them a lot of money in about 5 years.

They should refund 45% of your Sunday ticket fee. Like they did for me if you ask for the purpose of leaving YoutubeTV all together.

Want to get $180 bucks right before Christmas?

If you are a fan of the Titans, Giants, Saints, Raiders, Browns, Bengals, Jets or Dolphins, I hate to break it to you, the season is already over. If your team is good, they are already probably on regular TV or Monday Night Football anyway, most weeks.

Options:

  • Spectrum has a $40/ month for 85 channels promotion going.
  • Get an antenna and a bunch of apps
  • Philo $28/month
  • Sling $45/month
  • Frendy, I don’t know, super cheap, I’m sure.
  • Make the call and get the kids an extra lump of coal in their stalking and get some payback that big tech has owed you for years.

I am going to make a note when a team reaches the 8th loss unless they are in the AFC North. Because the winner of the AFC North could have 9 losses.

***

Since many teams are done, I thought I would provide your offseason obsession order update. Call it the new race for #1.

Now for the part you care about

  • #32 Titans 8 LOSES — SEASON OVER!! BYE WEEK
  • #31 Raiders
  • Coming into the season, I said the o/u for the number of combined missed games total for Jackson Powers Johnson and Kolon Miller was 8.5. We are going to hit the over. Here’s the thing: if I knew JPJ was an ongoing injury concern, I would assume the GM knew he was. Kolton is just old. With those two, the Raiders run the ball and can defend a solid pass rush. Without either, they will give up 7 sacks a game and score 7 pts. Thus, John Spytek (GM) walked us into the season aware that this would happen. Oh, and if I may, MAKE PETE FIRE HIS KID WHO IS THE O-LINE COACH! Losing has consequences, this isn’t Middle Tennessee State, it’s the NFL! F&$king act like it!!! Even if this situation is somehow being augmented by Pete’s kid, he doesn’t have the agency necessary to stand up and be listened to on his own merits. And that is a goddamed problem. If Pete wants to quit because of that, hey, most people reading this could coach the Raiders to 2 wins, what’s the loss?
  • #30 Browns
  • Browns are garbage. Myles Garrertt is like the Hope Diamond in a bag compost. Something unique and amazing in the trash covered in bacon grease and Hot Pockets wrappers.
  • #29 Commies/Reds
  • They are done. Start thinking about the future.
  • #28 Saints 8 LOSES — SEASON OVER!!
  • The Saints win 2nd game for no real reason.
  • #27 Jets
  • Jets get rid of dead weight in the form of their best cornerback and defensive tackle, then beat the Browns to begin their march to the playoffs….. lol
  • #26 Giants
  • For a moment, it looked like they would jeopardize their potential draft pick, but thankfully, the Bears dug deep. Oh, and so did the ownership of the Giants who FINALLY fired the coach. You know, the fat guy.
  • #25 Cards
  • The Seahawks kicked their ass. But they do that to everyone.
  • #24 Bengals BYE WEEK
  • #23 Dolphins
  • Dolphins cost themselves 2 spots in the draft with a win over the Bills. So… Congrats?
  • #22 Cowboys BYE WEEK
  • #21 Falcons
  • I really thought they would pull it together.
  • #20 Panthers
  • Panthers beat by hapless Saints, David Tepper tells his valet to find him a homeless person to murder; valet brings back a “realtor”. Tragedy averted. Thank god Tepper’s spanish is very average.
  • #19 Vikings
  • Ravens are about to march back to the top of the league and JJ wasn’t going to stop it.
  • #18 Jags
  • You start the 4th quarter with a 29 to 10 lead and you end it 29 to 36 after you give up an unanswereed 26 points in the 4th qtr. Let me say that slower, Unanswered…..26pts…in the….4th qter…….
  • #17 Steelers
  • Aaron Rodgers decided to retire half way through the Steelers game with the Chargers. I think it was when Khalil Mach was on top of him. Man, for a 40 year old he can take a beating.
  • #16 Packers
  • Way to lose a game with almost 500 yards in….punting.
  • #15 49ers
  • Rams came to town and beat the 49ers ass. Plain and simple.
  • #14 Texans
  • 26pts in the fourth quarter. I mean, I can count on one hand how many times I have seen teams score 20 + to come from behind by 20 pts in the 4th, in my lifetime. It’s happened 3 times this season.
  • #13 Bills
  • I don’t even know what to say at this point. I mean, sure its tough to play Miami. Its hot, but that doesnt excuse 3 periods of goose eggs on the scoreboard? It was 30–13, but wasn’t that close.
  • #12 Bears
  • Nice late comeback has them in the playoffs…. For now. But they are trending up either way.
  • #11 Ravens
  • Don’t look now, but the Ravens are 1 game out of first place and the Steelers are 1–3 in their last 4. Yes the Ravens are going to win the division and I won’t be shocked if this is their year to make the Superb Owl.
  • #10 Broncos
  • How did I have them #4 last week? Yes they won again on Thursday, but they suck. That offense is garbage. The Raiders have a good defense, but not that good. Nix is very inaccurate under pressure. You can say that about a lot of guys, but he’s 50% uncatchable under pressure. They get smoked first round of the playoffs.
  • #9 Bucs
  • Here’s the problem with the Bucs: If you look at their record it looks pretty good — 6–3 has them in the playoffs. And the Seahawks game was massive as I have them #1. The Bucs are killing every bad team, but the Bucs lose to almost every good team. The Pats beat them at home, The Eagles did also and the Lions beat them up on the road. 49er win was at a low point for the 49ers with injuries and beating the Falcons, Texans and Jets by a combined 6 points isnt all that impressive. I think they lose to the Bills and Rams the next two weeks, are 6–5 then bounce back against lesser competition to make the playoffs and lose in the first round.
  • #8 Chiefs BYE WEEK
  • #7 Chargers
  • Not wanting to be outdone by the Aaron Rodgers, Herbert takes another hellacious pounding. I’m shocked he has lasted this long without going on IR.
  • #6 Patriots
  • Now the Pats have proven themselves worthy of the word “Contender”. Beating the Bucs is a big deal. The Bucs beat the Seahawks at home, its a big time win.
  • #5 Colts
  • It took The Colts OT to beat the Falcons but the Falcons are tough at home. Ask the Bills.
  • #4 Rams
  • Rams drive up the 5 Freeway, put up 42 pts on the 49ers and were passing Kettleman City by 7PM. All in a days work.
  • #3 The Detroit Lions
  • The game that will set the tone for the rest of the season is this week vs. the Eagles. Its a Sunday night game so everyone will see it, and the casual observer is going to form opinions that last until the playoffs. If they win they will have the tie breaker over the Eagles and be in a very good position to land home field throughout the playoffs. If they lose, 6–4 and with loses to the Eagles, Packers and Vikings, they are almost guaranteed to play the entire playoffs on the road. So…. No pressure….
  • #2 Eagles
  • Not a decisive victory, but a victory none the less.
  • #-1 Seahawks
  • They handle business and put up 44 on the Cards. I have them so much further ahead of the rest of the league I am changing my rankings to add a place beyond #1. #-1..
  • Updated playoff odds.
